An intelligence-driven operation conducted in Nxothwe locality in Qumbu, Eastern Cape, by the OR Tambo District Task Team on Wednesday, 03 December led to the arrest of a 37-year-old woman for the unlawful possession of a firearm and live ammunition.
During the operation, the task team executed a search warrant at an identified homestead. The woman was searched and found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol with an intact serial number, along with five live rounds of ammunition.
A firearm circulation check revealed that the firearm belongs to a 51-year-old deceased male from Grabouw in the Western Cape.
The suspect was immediately arrested for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. She is expected to appear before the Qumbu Magistrate’s Court today, 05 December 2025.
