On Friday night, 30 January 2026, the police conducted a cordon and search operation at Thokoza hostel in Ekurhuleni district.
Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Policing, Major General Fred Kekana and Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole led the operation. During the operation, the team also conducted several crime prevention actions around the area such as stop and searches, patrols, liquor compliance inspections and tracing of wanted suspects by the detectives.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 84 #wanted suspects for serious and violent crimes by the detectives while visible policing team arrested 15 suspects for possession of unlicensed firearm, drunk and driving, selling liquor without a license, dealing in drugs and contravention of the immigration Act. Two firearms were also seized for section 102 enquiry.
The arrested suspects will appear before court on Monday, 02 February 2026.
