A 54-year-old female sustained minor injuries after she was assaulted and robbed in Redcliffe – KZN this evening (Saturday). Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call at approximately 19:31 from a member of the public reporting a robbery. Reaction Officers responded to the scene and interviewed the victim. The female, who is a resident of Inanda – KZN, informed Officers that she was spending the weekend with a friend in Redcliffe – KZN.
She was later accompanied by the friend to visit another acquaintance in the area. While walking along a pathway, they encountered the acquaintance together with two (2) unknown males. During the interaction, the suspects assaulted the victim by striking her on the forehead with a stone before robbing her of a cellphone and a black handbag containing her bank cards & identification documents. The suspects and the victim’s friend thereafter fled the scene on foot in the direction of a nearby tavern.
The victim sustained minor injuries to her forehead. Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects, but no arrests were made.
