One person has sadly lost his life following a suspected suicide incident in the Starwood area of Phoenix on Tuesday evening.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports that a family member had been discovered with a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, paramedics found an adult male who had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head. It is believed that the victim was alone at home at the time of the incident and was discovered by family members upon their return.
Despite assessment by medics, the patient showed no signs of life and was declared deceased at the scene.
A firearm was recovered at the scene. Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) responded and have taken over the investigation.
The circumstances leading up to the incident cannot be confirmed at this stage and remain subject to a police investigation.
