Bophelo House EAP organised a Mandela Day event for provincial office employees. The wellness of internal staff members was the core focus of the day, with stakeholders such as Advance Life and Medical rendering healthcare services including workplace assessments; management of acute and sports-related injuries; dietetics; podiatry; and neurological rehabilitation.
The Free State Department of Health provided screening and oral health services. ASAP Health Dentistry also provided oral health services, while GEMS, Sanlam, and Liberty Life were available to offer insurance services.
The Free State College of Emergency Care provided CPR education, highlighting lifesaving actions to take when a patient collapses and is unresponsive while awaiting Emergency Medical Services.
They recommended 15 hard compressions and 2 breaths for children up to 12 years old, and 30 compressions for adults, using the base of both hands in the middle of the chest.
The Mangaung Fire Department also delivered a fire safety information session, including the safe use of gas cylinders and fire extinguishers.
Bophelo House officials organised soup, bread, fruit, sanitary towels, and condoms for people living on the streets without shelter.
