At approximately 11h30 Ensure Security officers stationed at a popular shopping destination in the Hilcrest area, recieved an alert for customers arguing on a roof top parking level.
Further investigation ascertained that suspects had been involved in a fraudulent sale of a motor vehicle.
The victims had been lead to believe they were purchasing a vehicle advertised on Facebook Marketplace. The seller asked for payment via electronic cash send and no vehicle was handed over.
The suspects were lured to the mall by the victims to discuss the matter under the pretence of receiving a second payment.
On arrival the victims alerted security and the suspects attempted to flee in a getaway vehicle.
Tactical Response units were called to assist and the vehicle was stopped on an attempt to exit the mall.
Six occupants of the vehicle, all foreign nationals were apprehended and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
