CAPE TOWN – Following a shooting incident in Abedere Street, Delft, on Thursday, 11 September 2025, members of the Anti-Gang Unit and the Delft Crime Prevention Unit followed up information regarding the shooting incident on Friday, 12 September 2025, which led them to an address in Nyanga Street, N2 Gateway. The address was searched and a 9mm pistol and ammunition were found in the house. Six suspects between the ages of 19 and 29 were arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. One of the suspects are being questioned for the murder.
Once charged the suspects will appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ court.
In an unrelated matter, members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and the Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team were conducting crime prevention operations in Gugulethu on Friday morning, when they noticed a male standing in NY108 near the cemetery who tried to hide himself when he saw the police vehicles. The members searched the male and found a 9mm pistol without a serial number in his possession. Three other males were also searched and another 9mm pistol and a shotgun were confiscated. The males could not produce firearm licenses or permits to possession the firearms and they were arrested for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The suspects aged 24, 43 and 45, will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court on Monday 15 September 2025.
