A fire that got reported to the DFW Fire & Rescue NPC around 20.20 last night at the old pass road tunnel Worcester side, and send forward to authorities to respond, clearly had its own mind.
As before, pumping wind and now even extreme temperatures predicted of 43 degrees Celsius or more, are very worrisome.
The fire is now clearly visible for Paarl and Wellington residents to see, in the Du Toitskloof Pass.
As soon as the fire reaches the pass road, ground teams can engage.
Earlier this year, also a run away fire past the mountain tops into our valley and caused havoc among many farms, burning crop and structures alike.
Only with the utmost efforts by authorities and private sector ( like the DFW) most farm buildings were saved, but we all could not prevent the loss of precious crops in the inferno.
Let us pray we can prevail again.
The DFW resources, trucks, trailers and cruisers are brought to high alert.
