Three (3) suspects were apprehended and assaulted by the community for allegedly stealing municipal electrical cables opposite Dube Village Mall in Inanda – KZN this morning (Thursday, 21/05/2026).
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Phoenix Operations Centre received a call for assistance at approximately 04:49 after members of the public reported that several individuals were being assaulted at a bus station in the area.
Reaction Officers were dispatched and on arrival found a large crowd gathered at the scene.
According to information received, the three (3) men were apprehended while allegedly stealing municipal electrical cables (picture 3). The theft resulted in a power outage in the surrounding area.
The suspects were assaulted by community members prior to the arrival of First Responders and sustained injuries to their heads during the incident.
