The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct Officers, arrested a twenty-four (24) year old male suspect for reckless and negligent driving in the Putfontein area.
Officers observed a vehicle being driven recklessly, disobeying traffic signals and overtaking other vehicles while facing oncoming traffic, thereby endangering the lives of other road users.
The Officers attempted to stop the vehicle using sirens and blue lights, however, the driver failed to comply, resulting in a pursuit. The vehicle eventually came to a stop at the corner of Lurie and Kerk Street.
The driver was immediately arrested on the scene, as he alleged that he was unaware that the Officers were attempting to stop him.
The suspect was detained and is expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court soon.
