A collision involving a taxi and a light motor vehicle on Sidney Road near to King Edward Hospital has left one person who is a nine month pregnant commuter in a critical condition and seventeen others with moderate to serious injuries this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the two vehicles in the road with extensive damage to both vehicles and most of the commuters were seated on the floor near to the accident scene. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that one commuter was nine months pregnant and in a critical condition. Paramedics quickly stabilised her and transported her to Nkosi Albert Luthi Memorial Hospital for further medical care. The remaining seventeen patients were treated for suspected neck and back injuries and minor cuts and abrasions. All patients were stabilised on scene and transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.
It is unclear who was at fault in this accident but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
