Efforts to eliminate the proliferation of illegal firearms continue to bear fruits as members in CBD Pretoria in partnership with Community in Blue continue to seize illegal weapons.
Firearm and ammunition recovered and two suspects were arrested during operations conducted last night, the 30 December 2021.
The members were busy conducting sector 3 operations when they stopped and searched two suspicious suspects who were carrying a black sling bag at Struben and Lilian Ngoyi Street.
Upon searching the bag, members found CZ pistol and rounds of ammunition. The two suspects aged 45 and 33 were arrested and charged with unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The firearm will be sent to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in other commission of serious and violent crimes
In an unrelated matter, the same team of Sector 3 policing during compliance assessment at various trading outlets in the CBD arrested a 48-year-old male shop owner for selling fireworks without a license.
The Station Commander of Pretoria Central, Brigadier Moses Dladla appreciated the involvement of the Community in Blue in the fight against crime and believe that the partnership can bring crime to its minimum. He further commended the Sector 3 crime prevention team for their relentless efforts in combating and preventing crime.
The suspects are due to appear in Pretoria Magistrate Court soon.
