A notorious murder suspect was shot and killed in a shootout with police in Umlazi this morning. His accomplice is critically wounded.
Members of the SAPS Inanda Task Team and Provincial Tracing Team had been searching for the suspect, who was wanted in connection with at least four murders and two attempted murders, including the killing of a taxi owner in Newtown A and a triple murder in another case.
Police say the suspects opened fire when approached, prompting officers to return fire. Firearms were recovered on the scene.
