‼️ Emergency Tip: What to Do When Someone Is Unresponsive
Recognising and responding quickly when a person becomes unresponsive can save a life. Here are essential steps to follow:
- Check responsiveness: Gently tap the person and speak to them to see if they respond.
- Assess their breathing and pulse:
- If the person is breathing and has a pulse, place them in the recovery position (on their side), open their airway, and monitor their breathing until emergency services arrive.
- If the person is not breathing and has no pulse, begin CPR immediately by pushing hard and fast in the centre of the chest. Continue until help arrives.
- Call for emergency assistance: Know the correct emergency numbers in your area. Stay calm, follow the emergency call operator’s instructions, and remain with the patient.
- Be prepared: Knowing basic lifesaving skills such as CPR, choking management, and basic first aid can make the difference between life and death in an emergency situation.
- Stay alert, stay calm, and don’t hesitate to take action-your response matters.
