The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit Officers, arrested a twenty-four(24) year old suspect for possession of a reported stolen vehicle, in the Rondebult area.
While patrolling the area, an Officer received a tip-off from a tracking company about a stolen red VW Polo last seen in the Rondebult area. The officer swiftly responded and traced the vehicle on Hlophe Street, where it was spotted inside a yard with two male suspects attempting to remove the tracker.
As the officer tactically approached, one suspect fled the scene, jumping over the wall, while the other was apprehended on the spot. A check on the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) confirmed the car was reported stolen, linked to an Alberton SAPS case.
The suspect was detained at Alberton Police Station and is expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court soon.
