The TMPD Public Transport Unit conducted Festive Season Road Safety Operations focusing on public transport in the Pretoria CBD on Monday and Tuesday, 23 December 2025.
During the operation, 14 taxis were impounded for non-compliance with the National Land Transport Act (NLTA). These operations are aimed at ensuring the safety of commuters, especially during this period where most of the people are using public transport to various holiday destinations.
In addition, the TMPD Freeway Unit and regional policing members in Mamelodi and Sinoville arrested 26 pedestrians on the N1 and N4 highways for pedestrian sources of danger. It is illegal to be found on the highways as it poses danger to motorists.
TMPD will not tolerate any form of behaviour that endangers your life and that of others. It is crucial to prioritize road safety and adhere to road traffic laws to prevent accidents and fatalities.
