Just before 14:30 the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call for a solar system on fire in the La Montagne area of Pretoria east. On arrival our team found that community members extinguished the fire and a local electrician who saw the call for help has assisted to isolate and remove the compromised component. Our member assessed one person with minor smoke inhalation who declined to be transported to hospital.
This incident highlights the importance of having a functional fire extinguisher and knowing how to use it, well done to the home owners and community members.
