On Wednesday evening, 5 March 2026 at approximately 20:40, and again on Thursday morning, 6 March 2026 at approximately 06:30, the Old East Safety Forum’s chain saw was put to the test when reports were received about downed trees in Menlo Park and Waterkloof respectively.
The first incident occurred in Mackenzie Street, Menlo Park, where a tree came down on Wednesday evening. The second incident took place in Premier Avenue, Waterkloof, on Thursday morning.
Both roads were safely cleared to allow traffic to pass. Arrangements have been made with the City of Tshwane for the removal of the tree remains.
