A suspect has been apprehended by members of KZN VIP Security following multiple reported copper theft incidents within the Stonebridge and Greenbury areas of Phoenix on Thursday afternoon.
Whilst conducting routine patrols, KZN VIP officers were alerted to a suspicious individual walking along Cardinal Road. Security teams responded immediately and, upon arrival, noticed the male who attempted to flee the area.
The suspect was swiftly intercepted by KZN VIP members. During a search conducted by security officers, the suspect was found in possession of copper pipes, brass taps believed to have been stolen from a nearby property, as well as other suspected stolen items.
Further information gathered indicates that the suspect has appeared on multiple CCTV cameras within the area on different occasions, wearing different clothing at various times of the day, suggesting possible involvement in previous theft incidents.
The suspect was detained and handed over to SAPS for further investigation.
