Following information regarding a series of Facebook Marketplace robberies, a multidisciplinary team comprising members of Soshanguve SAPS VISPOL, Mabopane SAPS VISPOL CPU, Gauteng Traffic Wardens STT (NC), Tshenolo P.I, Garankuwa LCRC, Zondi Crime Busters, Jimbo’s Security Company and Wenzindlela Tracking Company conducted a operation which led to the arrest of three suspects linked to a Soshanguve case of armed robbery and car hijacking.
The suspects were traced to a location in Mabopane Unit B which they allegedly used to lure unsuspecting victims under the pretext of meeting for Facebook Marketplace transactions.
Operational members tactically approached the area and intercepted the suspects vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a firearm taken from one of the victims during the robberies.
Three suspects were arrested and charged with armed robbery and car hijacking.
