The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit Officers, arrested a fifty-two (52)year-old male suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and suspected stolen property in the Brakpan area.
While patrolling along Leema Road, Officers noticed a suspicious white Hyundai bakkie parked in nearby bushes. Upon approaching the vehicle to investigate, they found one male occupant inside.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of copper and aluminium cables loaded at the back. Further search of the suspect resulted in the recovery of an unlicensed 9mm firearm, a magazine and x8 live rounds of ammunition in his possession.
The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at the Brakpan Police Station. He is expected to appear before the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court soon.
