SAPS in Meadowlands have arrested two suspects, aged between 30 and 35 years, for the unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition following an intelligence driven operation conducted in Meadowlands policing area on the early hours of Thursday, 11 June 2026.
Police received information regarding two men who were allegedly in possession of unlicensed firearms at a specific location within the Meadowlands policing precinct. It was further alleged that the suspects were involved in street robberies and house robberies in the area.
The information was operationalised, leading members to the identified location where a search was conducted. During the operation, police recovered and seized one revolver, one 9mm pistol, one magazine and 62 rounds of live ammunition.
The two suspects were subsequently arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The confiscated firearms will be subjected to ballistic examination to determine whether they may be linked to other crimes under investigation. The investigation remains ongoing and suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
