Members of Operation Lockdown III conducted an intelligence drive operation at a premises in Riverside Road, Ocean View on Tuesday night, 10 June 2026, searching for drugs. During the search of the premises the members found 31 kilogram copper wire and fittings and 5.1 kilogram brass fittings and wire on the premises. A further search was conducted and they found a parcel dagga and 38 small packets containing dagga.
A 54-year-old male was arrested for the possession of dagga and the possession of presumed stolen property and is due to appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrates’ court on Friday, 12 June 2026.
In an unrelated matter, members of the Anti-Gang Unit deployed in Bishop Lavis area were conducting foot patrols in the 7th Avenue informal settlement, when they found a green plastic bag hidden in an electrical box. Upon searching the plastic bag, the members found a 9mm pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition. An investigation into the origin of the firearm was launched.
