One person has been left in a critical condition following a drive by shooting which occurred on Westham Drive in the Phoenix area on Thursday morning.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene after receiving multiple reports of a male who had sustained gunshot wounds at a local supermarket.
Upon arrival, emergency teams found the patient in a critical condition requiring urgent advanced life support intervention. KZN VIP Advanced Life Support paramedics were immediately dispatched to the scene, where the patient was stabilized before being rapidly transported to a nearby medical facility for further urgent medical treatment.
It is believed that the suspects parked their vehicle along Westham Drive before one suspect allegedly entered the shop posing as a customer. The suspect then allegedly opened fire on the owner of the business before fleeing the scene.
The suspects subsequently managed to evade arrest and fled in the direction of the Amaoti, SAPS has launched an investigation into the incident.
SAPS together with all other necessary emergency services were in attendance.
