On Tuesday, 26 May 2026, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Northern Task Team Officers, arrested two (2) male suspects and recovered a hijacked e-hailing transport vehicle during an early morning operation in the Birch Acres area.
Officers acted on tracking coordinates supplied by a vehicle tracking company, the vehicle had reportedly been hijacked overnight in the Kempton Park area.
The vehicle was found stationary on Namakwaduif Street, following interviewing members of the public in the area. Officers were directed to a nearby residence on Carl Davies Street. Upon tactically entering the premises, two male suspects were found on the property. A family member at the residence confirmed that the suspects had arrived with the vehicle earlier that morning.
The two suspects, aged twenty-seven (27) and thirty-two (32), were arrested and charged with possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of suspected stolen property. During a search of the suspects and the premises, Officers also recovered the complainant’s personal belongings as well as the vehicle keys.
Both suspects were arrested and detained and the Norkem Park Police Station, they are expected to appear at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court
