Witnesses contacted KZN VIP after observing the suspect fuel his vehicle at a service station in the Sunford area before fleeing the scene without making payment. A witness maintained a safe following distance while remaining in contact with KZN VIP control room operators, providing real time updates on the suspect’s movements.
KZN VIP reaction officers immediately responded and joined the pursuit. Following a lengthy chase through the Phoenix area, the suspect’s vehicle was successfully cornered near the Phoenix SAPS precinct. During the pursuit, the suspect allegedly drove recklessly at high speeds, bypassing multiple traffic signals and narrowly causing several collisions, placing other road users at significant risk.
The suspect was detained by KZN VIP members and subsequently handed over to SAPS for further investigation and processing.
