The very fast response by DFW Fire responder Sean King towards a vehicle alight, moments after he received detailed information from the DFW control room, suppressed the flames and likely prevented further drama.
Around 17.11 the DFW received a location and a call regarding a vehicle alight. The information was then broadcast over the DFW radio system for all DFW volunteer responders to hear ( and react), while simultaneously Paarl Fire Brigade was called and sent the same info to respond.
Time is of the essence in case of any fire.
Sean King and Kade Loubser were literally a short distance away and quickly on site, used a garden hose offered by a friendly neighbour to first cool the hood and then douse the fire on the engine.
Minutes later, further assistance arrived from Paarl Fire with a cruiser, followed by a pumper truck.
The cooperation went very smoothly, and the joint efforts were widely appreciated.
Fire is a time-related event, and we all need to play a role to mitigate the risk.
Well done, all.
