A white 2026 VW Polo sedan reported missing by a Durban – KZN car rental company has been recovered after a Security Officer recognised the vehicle from a social media circulation early this morning (Saturday).
The vehicle was rented on Thursday, 2 July 2026. After the rental company lost contact with the client on Thursday, 16 July 2026, the vehicle’s tracking unit stopped transmitting. Further enquiries revealed that the address provided by the client was an abandoned house in Kenville – KZN. A public appeal was subsequently issued on RUSA Social Media platforms at 09:44 yesterday (Friday, 17/07/2026).
At approximately 02:01 today (Saturday, 18/07/026), the Phoenix Operations Centre received a call from a Security Officer employed at a Durban based company who reported that he had recognised the missing vehicle while viewing the circulation on the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Facebook page. The white VW Polo sedan was parked at a service station in Springfield Park – KZN. A Reaction Officer responded to the scene and positively identified the vehicle.
The Security Officer stated that the vehicle had been parked at the premises for approximately five (5) days. An unidentified male allegedly parked the vehicle, handed the keys to the day shift Security Officer and advised that someone would return to collect it before leaving the premises.
The keys were later handed to the garage Manager for safekeeping.
