A robbery suspect was killed and a victim seriously injured while tussling for a firearm during a home invasion in Amaoti – KZN this afternoon (Tuesday).
Three (3) armed men proceeded to several homes and robbed residents of valuables. At the last residence, the victim resisted and attempted to wrestle a firearm from one (1) of the robbers.
The victim and one (1) suspect were shot in the process. The injured robber attempted to exit the property, but collapsed at the driveway gate. His accomplices grabbed his firearm and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was critically injured and expedited to hospital privately.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 18:56. Reaction Officers & RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched. On arrival, the suspect was examined and confirmed to be deceased.
He sustained a single gunshot wound to his head.
