The Department of Correctional Services (DCS), in partnership with the South African Police Service (SAPS), recently carried out night surprise search operations at Christiana and Klerksdorp Correctional Centres. These operations form part of DCS’ ongoing commitment to strengthening security and curbing the smuggling of contraband into correctional facilities.
Confiscations at Christiana Correctional Centre included:
• 3 cellphones
• 1 Wi-Fi router
• 5 crystal meth pipes
• 30 slopes of dagga
Confiscations at Klerksdorp Correctional Centre included:
• 18 cellphones
• 59 dagga blades
• 5 dagga pipes
These successful operations reinforce the Department’s commitment to maintaining safe, secure, and compliant correctional environments across all centres.
