The Fezile Dabi Trio Task Team has apprehended a 35-year-old male for possession of an unlicensed firearm. On Sunday, 22 February 2026, at about 23:00, the Fezile Dabi District Trio Task Team received information about a firearm that was allegedly stolen at Vredefort on Saturday, 21 February 2026.
The team conducted a tracing operation, and the said vehicle was spotted around Arcon Park, Vereeniging. A chase ensued between the suspects and the police, and the vehicle was intercepted.
During the search, the firearm was recovered in the vehicle. A revolver pistol and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime were seized.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Vredefort Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm soon. #GunsOffTheStreets
