A man sustained injuries while attempting to flee from robbers in the Verulam CBD – KZN today (Tuesday, 16/06/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out at approximately 17:40 after the Operations Centre received reports that a pedestrian had allegedly been run over by a vehicle on Garland Street in Temple Valley – KZN.
Upon arrival, Reaction Officers established that no motor vehicle accident had occurred and that the injuries had been sustained while the man was attempting to evade robbery suspects.
The victim informed Reaction Officers that he had been consuming alcohol with friends in Gandhi Park in the Verulam CBD – KZN prior to the incident. He stated that two (2) men emerged from nearby bushes and gave chase. While attempting to escape towards Garland Street, he fell onto the roadway and dislocated his kneecap.
The suspects allegedly robbed the man of his cellphone before fleeing into nearby bushes.
