One person has been shot following an armed robbery incident on the N2 near the Tongaat Toll Plaza on Monday afternoon.
It is believed that the victim had allegedly been given a lift and whilst travelling along the N2, he was suddenly held up by the occupants inside the vehicle. During the ordeal, an undisclosed amount of valuables were reportedly taken from the victim before suspects allegedly attempted to force him out of the moving vehicle.
The victim was subsequently shot and thrown onto the side of the roadway before the suspects fled the scene in the vehicle.
Emergency services from KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services together with another private ambulance service responded to the scene. The patient was stabilised on scene by another private ambulance service before being transported to a nearby medical facility for further medical attention.
The circumstances leading up to the incident remain subject to further investigation by SAPS.
