A minibus taxi driver was stopped during a warrant roadblock operation on Umgeni Road after failing to comply with instructions from officers to stop his vehicle. The driver fled the scene and was pursued by members before being successfully apprehended opposite Inkosi Spares.
The suspect was subsequently transported to the Alcohol Evidence Centre (AEC) for a breathalyser test, where he recorded a reading of 1.19 mg/l.
The driver will be placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and related offences.
