A routine police patrol is one of the essential strategic tools to curb serious and violent crimes, as demonstrated by the arrest of a 40-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Msento Locality, Centane, on Sunday, 31 May 2026, around midday.
Police officers who were patrolling Qolora Road spotted a male pedestrian carrying an item resembling a shotgun. The suspect attempted to flee when officers stopped next to him. Members pursued and arrested him, subsequently confiscating the unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The 40-year-old suspect is due to appear in the Centane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 June 2026, on charges of unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
