The endeavours of Operation Lockdown III to bring stability to crime ridden areas have proved fruitful as indicated by the results achieved during operations on Friday, 10 July 2026.
On Friday, 10 July 2026 at 23:30, members arrested seven suspects including one female aged 33 and six males aged between 20 and 50 for possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition without a permit and possession of drugs. The members were busy with patrols in the Parkwood area, when they heard gunshots. They drove in the direction of the sound and a member of the public stopped them and pointed them to a house where drugs and firearms are being kept. Members immediately followed up the information and searched the occupants and premises in Eric Viljoen Road, Parkwood, Grassy Park.
In the wendy house under a mattress members found a plastic bag with a Tokorev pistol and 25 rounds of ammunition, mandrax tablets and sachets of tik. The seven suspects were arrested and detained at Grassy Park SAPS and will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s court on Monday, 13 July 2026 for the mentioned charge.
Furthermore, an intelligence driven operation by Operation Lockdown III in conjunction with National Intervention Unit, Crime Intelligence and Milnerton SAPS members led to the arrest of a 36-year-old male for possession of cocaine and heroin worth an estimated value of R14 500-00 on Friday, 10 July 2026.
The members received information of narcotics that will be delivered at a premises in Koeberg Road, Brooklyn, Milnerton, from where it will be redistributed to other drug sellers. The address was monitored, and due to the address also known to be used for escort business the members decided to search the premises. Upon entering the premises members searched a male person dressed in a green jacket and found him in possession of drugs. Members seized 45 units rocks and one bag containing cocaine which was handed in as exhibits.
He was arrested and detained at SAPS Milnerton and will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s court on Monday, 13 July 2026 for the mentioned charge. #FightingCrime
