Members attached to Operation Prosper in the Western Cape arrested a 42-year-old foreign national male for dealing in liquor without a licence, possession of prohibited firearm and illegal possession of rhino horns on Saturday, 25 July 2026 at 17:30.
The members followed up information of a person selling liquor at a premises on a wine farm in Croydon area outside Macassar. They immediately operationalised the information and searched the premises where after a large consignment of liquor were found. The members also found and confiscated a firearm, with 10 rounds of ammunition and two rhino horns.
The 42-year-old suspect failed to produce a valid license to sell liquor or to be in possession of a firearm, ammunition and rhino horns and was subsequently arrested.
In the Lwandle area, members arrested two males, aged 28 and 34, for dealing in drugs at a premises in Sikwatsha Street, Zola, Lwandle. The members were patrolling and doing crime prevention patrols in the area when they spotted a suspicious vehicle at the mentioned address and stopped and searched it. Members recovered a large bag of dagga on the back seat of the vehicle.
Members searched the house and occupants and found loose dagga, dagga cigarettes, sachets containing dagga and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime. The suspects were arrested and the dagga handed in as exhibits.
A 34-year-old woman was taken into custody in Samora Machel on a charge of dealing in liquor without a license. The members followed up on information of liquor being sold illegally at a premises in Bathandwa Mdingi Street, Samora Machel. The members went to the mentioned address and found and arrested the woman selling liquor without a license and the liquor was seized.
A 45-year-old male was arrested for dealing in drugs at a premises in Khwababa Street, Bloekombos, Kraaifontein. The arrest was made during stop and searches in the area and the members followed up on information received about a person selling drugs and possibly be in possession thereof. The members searched the premises and the occupant and found him to be in possession of a bag containing tik and arrested him. He was also found in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
The suspects are due to appear in the Strand, Athlone and Kuilsrivier Magistrates court on their respective charges on Monday, 27 July 2026.
