An 11-year-old girl was killed and three people injured when the wall of their house collapsed on them in Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.
“The wall of the house collapsed on the family that was sleeping last night (Thursday),” said Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mdunge.
The 11-year-old girl died at the scene.
“The cause of the collapse is suspected to be heavy rains.”
Mdunge said a 21-year-old woman fractured her collar bone and injured her head.
“Another seven-year-old girl suffered severe body injury and was taken to hospital.”
An 72-year-old woman, believed to be the children’s grandmother, was taken to hospital.
Mdunge said the wall of the house was constructed in an unsafe way.
