The Odendaalsrus police have arrested a 36-year-old man for the unlawful possession of a firearm.
On Monday, 20 July 2026, members attached to the Odendaalsrus Rural Safety Unit received and followed up on information about an individual suspected of being in illegal possession of a firearm. Upon arrival at the identified address, a search was conducted, and the suspect was found in possession of a Pietro Beretta pistol.
He was immediately arrested for the unlawful possession of the firearm.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the firearm was reportedly stolen during a recent residential burglary in Odendaalsrus.
The firearm was confiscated and booked in as evidence for further investigation.
The suspect will appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
