A multidisciplinary Operation Shanela 2 in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Thursday, 09 October 2025, resulted in the recovery of two vehicles that are suspected to be stolen. Furthermore, the team arrested 43 illegal immigrants, four suspects for failing to comply with Second-Hand Goods Act and another suspect for possession of ammunition.
Gauteng Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Crime Detection, also acting as Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Major General Mbuso Khumalo and Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole led from the front as the police conducted a roadblock, searching for stolen/hijacked vehicles and other illicit goods. Two unlicensed liquor outlets were closed down and liquor seized.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear before local Magistrate’s Court in due course.
