The Police in Bolobedu under the Mopani District are investigating a case of theft by false pretence following an incident that occurred on Thursday, 12 September 2024.
It is alleged that on the said date, at about 09:55, the complainant, aged 62, deposited an amount of R18, 000.00 to a sales representative of a car dealership based in Johannesburg. The payment was intended as a deposit for the purchase of a Toyota Quantum vehicle.
Subsequently, when the complainant attempted to make further inquiries, the sales representative could not be found and was reportedly no longer employed at the said dealership. The case was then reported to the police.
The suspect is known to the complainant and the police. He is believed to be residing in Mooikloof Ridge, Pretoria, and also frequents the Seshego, Mashashane, and Mankweng areas in Limpopo.
The police are calling upon Maredi Silas Tebogo Khalapaye (51) to report to his nearest police station as it is believed that he may assist in resolving this matter.
