Flare-up in Ashton and a new fire in Lanquedoc outside Pniël

The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s (CWDM) Fire Services can confirm that they have responded to a flare-up in Ashton and a new fire in Lanquedoc outside Pniël.

The fire in the mountains above Zolani (Ashton) reignited and has moved through an area of aged vegetation and onto private ground. Teams are on site, with an additional ground crew due to arrive soon.

A new fire has been reported in the mountains above Lanquedoc (outside Pniël). The fire spread rapidly through dense vegetation and is burning across a large area.

The CWDM has deployed three major firefighting vehicles and crew, two ground teams, and aerial support to assist.
