WESTERN CAPE – On Monday evening, 10 November 2025 at 22:50, members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit were deployed to Manenberg policing precinct to stabilize the area and prevent gang related crimes, contact crimes in the precinct of Manenberg.
The members conducted self-initiated, disruptive operations in the vicinity of Heideveld and the greater Manenberg.
They conducted vehicles patrols and stop and searches actions. Whilst in the area information was obtained through a reliable source of firearms and drugs at a premises. The members immediately operationalised the information and went to a premises at Petra Walk, Manenberg. A thorough search was conducted and a silver 9mm firearm was seized.
Further searching was conducted and 20 .38 special rounds, as well as 74 units of mandrax and four half units of mandrax tablets were also seized.
A 32-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and dealing in drugs/ possession of drugs.
The suspect was detained at Manenberg SAPS and will appear in the Athlone Magistrates court once charged.
