CAPE TOWN – Vigilant members of the Maitland Flying Squad were busy with patrols on the N2 Highway near Macassar on Wednesday morning, when they saw a suspicious looking vehicle and pulled it over. Upon conducting a search in the vehicle, a Mercedes Benz Vito, members recovered an imitation firearm with blank rounds and 209 units of abalone with an estimated street value of R 100,000.00. An adult male was arrested for the possession of an imitation firearm and the illegal possession of abalone.
Once charged the suspect will appear in the Somerset West Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
