On Monday 24 November 2025, members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team attached to #OperationShanela 2, conducted an operation at Mitchells Plain area to address criminal activities in the area. Members arrested a suspect (45) who was found in possession of 242 mandrax tablets, 719 mandrax capsules, two sachets of tik and an amount of R10,970-00 believed to be the proceeds of crime.
In an unrelated matter, on Sunday 23 November 2025, members of Maitland Flying Squad attended to a shooting incident in Kensington area. They followed up on information about a person who ran into a premises in Slamander Way, Kensington. The premises was searched and a bag with a pistol with 30 rounds of ammunition was found in a shack. On further investigation it was discovered that the pistol was reported stolen in October 2025 in Sandton. No arrests were made. The firearm was handed in at Kensington SAPS as exhibit and further processing.
