Members attached to the Welkom Public Order Police (POP) platoon 5, have arrested a 44-year-old man after he was allegedly found in possession of suspected stolen property.
It is alleged that on Monday, 24 November 2025, POP members received and followed Intelligence driven information about theft out of motor vehicles in the Welkom CBD area. Investigations were conducted, and CCTV footage revealed an african male breaking into a vehicle and taking two laptops. Further investigation led members to Bronville, and the alleged suspect matching the description was spotted carrying a bag. Upon searching, the suspect police found one HP and one Lenovo laptop.
Police confiscated two laptops and two laptop chargers, with a combined estimated value of R52 000.00
The suspect was subsequently arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and theft out of motor vehicle. He is expected to appear before the Welkom Magistrate’s Court soon.
