On Tuesday, 27 January 2026, members of the #AntiGangUnit deployed in the Cape Town area amidst gang tensions conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Springfield Terrace and recovered two firearms.
The police had credible information about firearms stored at an address in Springfield Terrace, Cape Town. Upon arrival at the address, members searched the premises and found a 9mm pistol with one round of ammunition and a .357 Magnum revolver without a serial number. A 33-year-old gang-affiliated male suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Once charged, he will make his first court appearance in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court.
