Durban – On the evening of Tuesday, 14 April 2026, S.T.A.R.T. Rescue was activated for a high angle rescue just outside Verulam, KwaZulu Natal.
The organisation received a call for assistance from the Durban & Coast SPCA after two puppies were discovered trapped approximately 50 metres down a cliff.
S.T.A.R.T.’s specialised high angle team was deployed to the scene, where rope systems were used to safely retrieve both animals and bring them back to safety.
The puppies were handed over to the Durban & Coast SPCA, where they will undergo veterinary assessment.
S.T.A.R.T. Rescue thanked its members and partners for their swift response, noting the importance of collaboration in ensuring the wellbeing of both people and animals in the community.
