Durban Metro Police Service Tracing Unit, in collaboration with the South African Police Service and Crime Intelligence, successfully conducted an intelligence-driven operation targeting the possession of unlicensed firearms in the South District.
The operation followed coordinated intelligence efforts which tracked the movements of a suspect to a residence in P Section, Umlazi.
At approximately 23:00, the operational team executed a tactical approach on the identified premises. The suspect was apprehended, and upon search, members recovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The suspect failed to produce a valid licence and was immediately placed under arrest.

● Unlawful possession of ammunition
Exhibits Recovered:
● One (01) x 9mm pistol (serial number filed off)
● One (01) x 9mm magazine
● Ten (10) x live rounds of ammunition
The suspect was detained at SAPS Umlazi and charged accordingly.
