The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Eastern Cape continues to intensify efforts in the fight against crime through #OperationProsper, with notable successes recorded between Monday, 13 April 2026 and Sunday, 20 April 2026.
During this period, a total of 25 search warrants were executed, of which 4 yielded positive results. In addition, 23 Section 22 searches were conducted, resulting in 8 positive outcomes. These operations led to the arrest of 9 suspects for possession of drugs, while 7 enquiries remain under investigation.
Police recovered several items, including 8 rounds of ammunition, a toy plastic gun, and a gas gun. A significant quantity of drugs was confiscated, including khat and cocaine with a combined weight of 128.93 grams, 1 175 full mandrax tablets, 21 half tablets, and 1 quarter tablet. Tik weighing 137.83 grams, dagga in various forms (bankies, loose, and zolls) totalling over 500 grams, as well as 6.5 grams of rocks were also seized.
Prescription and illicit medication confiscated include 20 bottles of Stilpain syrup (100ml), 20 870 Stilpain tablets, 200 Saltipane tablets, 100 Mylan tablets, 200 Mylan Alprazolam tablets, 53 Purata tablets, and 54 Percocet tablets. Other confiscated items include bags, cash, a black book, abalone, diving equipment, a vehicle (Jeep), multiple cellphones, a Huawei router, laptops and accessories, as well as an oxygen cylinder.
The Acting Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner Brig Loyiso Ngalo commended members for their dedication and commitment in ensuring safer communities. Police operations will continue to be intensified to disrupt criminal activities across the province.
